Here is a treat for the hot days of summer, a rosé that is anything but wimpy. Pentâge is a Penticton area winery that has yet to open a tasting room (it will be spectacular when it does open).
Winemaker and co-owner Paul Gardner has been refined his rosé since first making what he called a Gamay Blush in 2004.In recent vintages, rosé has replaced the unfortunately chosen blush in the label. Blush wines did not have a serious reputation. This is a serious wine, made with Gamay. The winemaker allowed the juice to soak for 48 hours on the skins, extracting superb colour and flavour. The wine presents a lovely jewel-box cherry hue in the glass, with a lot of fresh fruit in the aroma. On the palate, there is a vivid explosion of flavours – cranberry, sour cherries, a hint of red liquorice. Full-bodied with a dry finish, this is wine that can handle anything that your summer menu offers.
